Love Chant Hangover

...as a matter of fact it's only just begun. We've got plans for plenty more events, mixtapes, t-shirts, collaborations with old friends, new friends, and maybe even some big flat round pieces of plastic in 2010. This shit is wide open for 2010.

"Love Me, Love Me Not" Valentine's Day mix by McBoing Boing

NYC native Robbie Busch aka Mcboingboing is one of busiest and most talented people I know in NYC. Part time DJ, Producer, rare vinyl Archaeologist/Dealer, Writer (FYI he's a major contributer to Wax Poetics magazine), Artist & Filmmaker, it's amazing that he found the time to bless this blog with a mix for Valentine's Day. When I asked him how he did it, he told me that he has been working on the perfect Valentine's Day mix for the last 15 years, and he thinks he finally completed this task. Salvaging audio from an assorted pile of broken 45s, incomplete cassette tapes from high school, floppies from a Commodore 64, some zips from his G3, and about 50 other unnamed wav files stored on 3 different hard drives, Robbie digitized and imported about two minutes of audio highlights from each failed attempt, pressed them up on acetates and finally mixed together more than a decade's worth of fragmented ideas into one comprehensive and glorious mix tape. Or at least that's the way I imagine him doing it.

Without further ado, I present to you with great honor, "Love Me, Love Me Not" Valentine's Day mix by McBoingBoing:

Love Chant Playlists from Sunday, January 17th!

What a fantastic night! We started playing records at 8pm to a full room all the way through 4am, and the crowd gave us everything they had. Special thanks to our UK guest Red Greg who spun for the first time ever in NYC, as well as Wax Poetic's DJ Monk One from BK doing his thing. Both of their sets were bonkers!

We spent the night switching on & off doing our thing, and we all had a great time playing records for you. I asked the boys to give me about 10 records each they remember playing at some point in the night, so if you missed the evening, you'll know what you missed and will hopefully be sure to make it out to the next one. Love Chant 2? It may be closer than you think...
